Thoughts on the Eve of Battle

14 October 2011 by John, No Comments

Remember when you fell in love? Or when you had your first baby? When every quiet moment you had, something popped into your mind. Not all consuming or conflicting. Not so much that you could not work or do what needed to be done. But there, nonetheless, in the background until your mind fell fallow, [...]

Glee Shmee

13 August 2011 by John, No Comments

If there’s one thing that grates when I take my daughter to dance classes is the damn Glee cover versions. If I have to listen to ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ one more time I’m gonna snap. Having a carefully orchestrated choir of precocious stage school ‘kids’ bleat through that key change THAT HAS NO DAMN BUSINESS [...]

Mozilla Building Android Based Mobile OS to Rival Chrome/Android

26 July 2011 by John, No Comments

Seems a little odd but it’s my impression that we have both band wagon jumping and an anti-Google attitude. Google might well have created a monster in Android, but I would much rather see Mozilla putting effort into making the Google OS better rather than splintering the concept. http://phandroid.com/2011/07/26/mozilla-building-android-based-mobile-os-to-rival-chromeandroid/

Transformers 3: A Micro Review

20 July 2011 by John, No Comments

OK. I won’t write a long drawn out defence of the film. I just want to say it was bloody good fun watching robots hit each other. Sure, there’s not enough of the actual Transformers in there, and Shia LeBoufont’s girlfriend cannot act and is a waste of time. And Patrick Dempsey is looking old and portly. But there [...]

Don’t Extradite for the Vampire Diaries

18 June 2011 by John, No Comments

In The Guardian, there is a story regarding a Sheffield based student who ran the file sharing site TVShack who could face extradition to US. This is simple. UK judges should be able to prevent the US from using the Extradition Treaty for this type of case. I fail to see how alleged crimes committed [...]

Understatement of the week: Richard Webster

17 June 2011 by John, No Comments

The understatement of the week comes from Wales Under 20s coach Richard Webster. Wales, in case you didn’t know, were utterly destroyed by the All Blacks 92-0 last Tuesday. Reported on the BBC website, Webster utters “The boys were understandably deflated immediately after the final whistle”. Wow. Really?! He then continues “we never really got [...]

X-Men: First Class Review

11 June 2011 by John, No Comments

Before I start with my drivel, I want to paint you a picture. On Tuesday I arranged a day off work. The plan was simple: brief shopping, lunch, then movie. Then out of the movie in time to pick up the small person. We turned up nice and early only to find the place devoid [...]

New Transformers Trailer = Excitement

22 May 2011 by John, No Comments

I challenge anyone not to get excited by the new trailer for Transformers: Dark of The Moon. The pre-release reviews are so far very good and from this trailer, the mass destruction that seems to be on display should be pure popcorn fodder and pretty much unrivalled in cinema to date. I love the first Transformers [...]

And just to prove that Pontypridd are the best…

And just to prove that Pontypridd are the best…

…they have the little matter of seeing off Llanelli at Sardis Road on Thursday evening. Which is a total waste of time. The Welsh Rugby Union decided to introduce playoffs into the Premier Division to maintain some semblance of competition at the end if the season. Funny thing is that the top of the table [...]
